5.15 – Would you like to dance?

ScreenshotSariel’s POV

I spent the night talking with my father. He wanted to stay for an elongated period of time to make sure I was okay. He even proposed I move back with him, but I declined.

I’m not too sure why I said no exactly, but I was really happy about the offer.

I managed to convince my dad to leave the next day. I was too busy all the time and there was no room here for him. He only conceded once I’d accepted the small amount of money he wanted to give me.

He ended up sleeping on the couch, and he left in the afternoon (promising to come visit often).

But before leaving he made sure I knew where they now lived, and he gave me everyone’s phone numbers. That meant Max and Mary. It didn’t take long before I called my brother.

I’d felt horribly guilty for yelling at him, but I was pleased to find he didn’t care at all.

After I told him my life, he went ahead and told me his. He was apparently working for the police now. He had a son, named Emesto, and he’s been fighting some pretty creepy stuff. He even put Emesto on the phone and I got to talk to my nephew.

Anyway, it went a lot better than expected.

Screenshot-3

Hopefully this does as well.

“I feel a little over-dressed, and a little too blue.” I said.

“Will you stop fussing around?” Mimi asked.

Screenshot-4

“You know, I don’t remember being this thin.” I commented. I stopped myself from emitting a groan as my back muscles protested the movements. These last few weeks had been hard on me at work.

“It’ll be easier for him to scoop you up in his arms.” Miriam said as if it was completely unimportant.

I blushed. “Please stop!” I looked at my hair and the blue lipstick I’d found somewhere in the drawers. “I haven’t worn my hair down in a while.”

Screenshot-5

“Do you really think it’ll be okay? I feel way too dressed-up and I have no idea where he’s taking me.” I said. I checked my teeth, maybe I should floss again.

Screenshot-6

“Maybe he doesn’t like girls with make-up.”

“Sariel, I don’t think he’s going to care what you look like at this point. By the way he’s been acting, and from what you’ve told me, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been in love with you since highschool.” Miriam said in a slightly annoyed tone. It’s easy for her to sound so casual; she just goes in a bar and leaves with a guy five minutes later. Well from what she tells me.

Screenshot-7

I turned to her quickly at the word ‘love’.

“Hey you don’t know that! You can’t just say someone loves someone just like that! And I doubt he’s liked me that long.” I blurted out rapidly.

Miriam laughed. “Oh I forgot, you’re all touchy when it comes to the word love.”

“It’s superficial.” I answered quickly. Miriam rolled her eyes.

Screenshot-8

The doorbell rang and I straightened up.

“Kay, I’ll leave you two alone.” Miriam said as she got out of my way.

“Wait, aren’t you going to come with?” I asked, suddenly nervous. I know it was just Rex, but now it was about dating Rex. Miriam let out a condescending chuckle.

Screenshot-9

I admit, I still clearly remember my resolution to not get into a relationship, but I also admit that I was a bit quick to make that decision. Thing is, I really like Rex, and I can’t imagine anything bad happening. It’s not like an anti-supernatural psycho will assassinate him or anything.

Screenshot-10

I opened the door.

“Hey.” Rex said nervously.

“Hey.” I replied just as nervous sounding.

Screenshot-11

Rex took me to a cheap dinner in town, and as we sat eating burgers and French fries it was pretty obvious we were both over-dressed. But at that point we’d already gotten used to each other’s presence and we stopped caring about how we looked.

It was still early once we’d come out of the dinner.

Screenshot-12

“So now what?” I asked.

“Well I thought we could go to the beach.”

Screenshot-13

Once we’d arrived at the beach a huge smile formed on my face. The closest thing we’d had to a beach in Twinbrook was the sand beside the lake and it’s not like it was all that exciting either. I’d never seen the ocean before.

“Come on Rex!” I said, grabbing his hand and pulling him along.

Screenshot-14

Meters away from the water I let Rex’s hand go. My gaze drifted to the horizon.

“We can’t even see the other land.” I whispered to myself.

Screenshot-15

Over there dad was returning home, saying hi to grandpa for me and my brother was putting his nephew to bed. A whole ocean separated us, but I didn’t feel as alone as I did before. My dad’s visit had really done me good.

Music started playing behind me.

Screenshot-16

I turned around. Rex had turned on the radio.

Screenshot-17

“Would you like to dance?” He asked. I couldn’t help but smile.

Screenshot-18

“Yes I would.” I replied. When he got over his shyness Rex was a charming gentleman.

Screenshot-19Screenshot-21Screenshot-22Screenshot-23

Rex was a great dancer! I was completely inexperienced, but I never thought for a second he’d drop me or step on my foot. I really only had to follow.

Screenshot-24

“Thank you.” I said before placing my lips on his.

Kissing Rex is a lot different from kissing Charles. Rex’s lips are tender and caring. When I kiss him, it doesn’t just feel like I’m kissing him. It feels a lot deeper, a lot more intimate. All that with just a peck.

Teehee! That was so much fun! He really is a good dancer, those two swished around for hours! (sim hours) And they just fit so well together…*happy sigh*

 Screenshot-25

Oh yeah, the whole time they were dancing this paparazzi came and stalked them. I got so annoyed I deleted him and that somehow halted their slow dancing action just when they had this great slow dancing move going on! They never did it again. Somehow I feel they were just showing off…. (Sariel is a four-star celebrity and Rex is a three-star. Don’t ask me how that happened, I get random messages saying they got a new star and stuff and I barely do anything!)

Damn it, those two are way too adorable. They’re killing me!

Anyway, I found some new legacies recently (which you can all see on the right side of the page. There’s this list of wordpress blogs I’m following. All of them are sims stories.) and realized characters usually have a direct goal in their story and Sariel’s current goal is really just to live her life and care for Mincia…I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not…

Well then again, there might not be a main goal in my story, but there are thousands of little mysteries scattered here and there that sometimes gets answered within the generation, and sometimes it takes several generations to solve. For example, the whole thing with the white-eyed and the supernatural is an ongoing background story that continuously comes back, and will continue to come back (I’ve got plans…).

Wow look at that, I’ve ranted away! Koodos for reading (Btw I made the pose where hes asking her to dance :D)

I have learned to try not and compare my stories to others (even though that can be seriously difficult!) every sims story I have ever read, from the most elaborately written to ISBI stories have had their own awesome qualities. For example, I have never felt so attached to characters that weren’t my own before reading this!! I was in class today and my mind was wandering (my prof is a little boring lol) and I couldn’t help but wonder what was going to happen to Sariel and genuinely wanting to know! I guess I am sort of rambling on about something you wrote like two years ago, but I figured I would say it anyways cause I am a feel-good nerd XD

That’s wonderful! It always makes a writer happy to know they aren’t the only one to care for the characters!

Comparing yourself is healthy on some level. I know a lot of stories I read, I tend to notice things I really like that people have done better than I have. So I tend to note them down mentally or use them to try and see how I can improve my own writing/screenshotting.
