6.19 – Sleep tight Aliska dear

Sariel’s POV

“Do you think she’ll like it?” Rex asked as he placed a small teddybear in Aliska’s crib.

“I think she’ll love it.”

“Just like Lance did and just like Raphaele did.” I said. Rex had been worried about being a good grandpa and had decided to buy a different teddybear for every child Zyla would have.

“I’m going to have to get another one soon it seems.” Rex said.

“She’s pregnant again? This’ll be her fourth! How many does she want?”

“Mom! Mom!” Zyla exclaimed running inside the room. Aliska gurgled in the background. “Guess what?”

“You’re pregnant.” I replied.

“Yes! How’d you guess?”

“I told her.” Rex cut in.

“You already have three Zyla, do you really want a fourth one? Three was fine for me.” Having four is going to be a handful.

“Well…we might actually have another one after this…”

“A fifth one? You know you’re going to have to stop at some point…” I chuckled.

“We’ll see…eventually we’ll stop wanting another one.” Zyla said, a little bit uncertainly.

“I sure hope so.” Rex said.

Carla’s POV

“Don’t forget to warn us-” Zyla started to say.

“If I get thirsty, yeah I know.” I cut in. The first few times was okay, but now it was getting annoying.

“Even if it’s just a parched throat, if you look at a natural and you’re suddenly thinking about their blood or-”

“Geez, I get it!” I interrupted again.

“I think she gets it Zyla.” Simon whispered in Zyla’s ear.

“Yeah, I do. Can I go now?” They acted like they were my parents sometimes.

Once they let me go I headed straight for Raphaele’s room.

“OHHH, now you’re playing with the blocks.” I said catching her off guard.

“Was not!” She complained, immediately stepping away from the blocks.

“Yeah, yeah. Come here.”

“We’re going to go hang out with Lance kay?”

“Nuhuh, Lance is boring.” She complained.

“You have no idea what you’re saying.” I told her as we headed for Lance’s room.

“Hi Lance, we’ve come to play with you.” I called out as we arrived.

Lance continued playing like nothing had happened.

“Laaaannnccceee!” Raphaele nearly shouted in his ear.

“I busy.” Lance said ignoring his sister.

I sighed and turned on the tv in Lance’s room.

It didn’t take very long for the kids to drop what they were doing and come watch the t.v. This thing was like a kid magnet!

And it works everytime.

Zyla’s POV

I was heading over to greet Simon back into the house, he often went into town to check up on things and buy supplies, when I heard a familiar noise.

The piano was playing.

A nostalgic feeling took control and I nearly rushed towards the music room door.

“It’s only Carla.” I whispered to myself, surprised I had hoped for it to be someone else.

“Hey you, what’s wrong?” Simon asked, as he came up behind me.

“I thought it was Rehal playing the piano for a moment…” I told him. “Rehal and Miranda, they all just left along with Velor didn’t they? Why would they go? They were my friends…why did they choose him over me? I guess it just frustrates me sometimes.”

Simon took my hands in his, giving them a slight squeeze, and smiled reassuringly. There wasn’t much he could say, he hadn’t really known Rehal and Miranda like I had, but this was more than enough.

Simon’s POV

The bedroom door clacked open.

“Simon! I can’t take it anymore!” A tired Zyla came in complaining. “She won’t stop crying! The other two weren’t like this, no matter what I do she won’t stop crying and my back hurts, my head hurts, I just want to go take a bath but she keeps crying!”

“Bring her here, we’ll check her over.”

Zyla set Aliska beside me, and my little girl cried even harder.

“Hey hon, what’s going on?” I asked as she continued to cry. I placed my hand on her forehead. “She has a slight fever.” I noticed.

“Is she going to be okay?”

“It’s just a small fever, she just needs to rest.”

“Well, it’s going to be hard with her screaming!” Zyla grumbled loudly over Aliska’s screams.

I brought Aliska near the pillows and I started to softly sing a lullaby, rubbing her stomach as I did so.

“Sleep tight Aliska dear,

You can rest here,

Tomorrow we will dance,

Tomorrow we will live.

 

Sleep tight Aliska dear,

There are no fears,

Tomorrow we will love,

Tomorrow we will laugh,”

At the end she had managed to calm down.

“It’s a song my mom used to sing to me when I was little.” I answered Zyla’s silent question.

“Do you think it’s because of her eyes?” Zyla whispered.

Aliska was born with dull grey eyes, a trait common to clair-voyants.

Zyla’s great-grandma and her aunt had these eyes. Unfortunately her great grandmother was dead and for some reason it was impossible to contact her aunt Mary.

We couldn’t know if it was normal for her to cry at random times like these. We couldn’t know if it was a clair-voyant thing or something else.

Zyla’s eyes widened and she let out a small gasp.

“The baby…” She whispered.

Zyla’s POV

“I’m sure it’s nothing.” Carla insisted. I couldn’t help feeling worried.

I gave birth to a boy, but I never got to hold him.

Raphaele, Lance and Aliska all screamed their little lungs out seconds after I gave birth to them. This boy however didn’t.

It took a full minute before he attempted to cry, but it only sounded like ragged rasps.

Mom and Simon had sped off to the hospital and now we were stuck home waiting.

“I hope so.” I muttered. “What do you think Lance?”

Lance smiled a bit uncertainly, not too sure what I was asking of him. He looked a lot like his father, what with having the same eyes and hair.

I hugged him tightly.

“I think so too.”

“Simon’s back.” Carla noticed absently sniffing the air.

A few minutes later Lance’s room door opened and my mother and my fiancé came in.

“I’m sorry Zyla.” My mother began and my heart broke at the words.

“Is he…” I couldn’t say the words.

“He’s alive, but…”

“He’s a vampire and he’s mute.” Simon finished.

Raphaele’s POV

I struggled to lift my little brother up.

“Higher! Higher!” Lance complained.

“We’re not even supposed to be doing this!” I snapped at him, but he ignored my comment.

“There! This is as high as I’m lifting you! Are you done looking at James?” I asked impatiently.

“Jaaammmeeesss, jjjaaammmmesss!” Lance repeated.

“Stop saying his name, are you done looking yet?” I insisted.

“Why he no answer?” Lance inquired.

“He can’t Lance, he’s a baby, and he’s mute!” I grunted.

“Mute?”

I groaned and put him down.

“I’m not explaining what mute is again.”

“Tell me! Tell me!” He said over and over again as he pulled on my pant leg.

“Okay fine! It means he can’t talk okay? Ah, you’re so annoying sometimes. I’m going to go hang out with Aliska now.”

Me gawds with got four babies now: Raphaele, Lance, Aliska and James. Poor James, he was born mute…

So ok…is this still considered a happy chapter? Oh and in case anyone was wondering theres still another 10 chapters before this generation is officially finished XD
