Early one shot, as a birthday gift for magpie! 😀
There is a house, on the top of a lonely hill, holding its breath. An inner war is brewing. A fight for the vampire throne has started. Today its owner will change.
It reeks with the smell of impending bloodshed.
It’ll take a miracle to make sure I survive the next few days.
Deep underground lies a sinister arrangement of closed corridors, each holding secrets behind locked doors.
One of these doors, as similar as the rest, held one of the most dangerous creatures alive. A weapon claimed by the Gold family, and an asset worth stealing.
Hair devoid of color. Lizard-like eyes. Long nails as tough as claws. Fangs sharper than a vampire’s. The strength of a train. And the mind of a wild animal.
She sits in a cage, held in place by the mind-control powers of the Gold family, scratching. Running her nails on the humid walls.
She senses him before he opens the door. She can smell the magic. She can hear the scuff of his shoes. She can taste his intentions.
Her fate has always been linked to his soul – no matter what form he takes.
Simultaneously her savior and her doom bringer.
She held the same importance to him. As much a source of great pain, as a source of relief. She had been controlled for years to torture him. Break him. Punish him as the vampires desired.
He had never held it against her.
The first white-eyed she had ever known had doomed her to a life of imprisonment.
She would never hold it against him.
Today he is liberating her. Giving her a choice and a promise. He will stay by her side as long as he’s needed. He will protect her. He will do everything he can to make sure that man never hurts either of them again.
It is a bond forged by pain, and one that runs much, much deeper. Deep into their past.
It is a bond of yin and yang. Of a giver and a taker.
They represent two ends of a necessary circle. It is a vital co-existence that stemmed from the past – their first encounter in another life.
For that reason, her first instinct will always be to listen. And his will always be to protect.
What connects them is irreversible – something that has been allowed to fester for centuries.
They are bound by magic till death do them part.
