9.8 – Wrong side of the bed

Y’all get to see my “epic” photo editing skills in this chapter. Speaking of, this is a short one, I consider it a filler chapter.

Salandra’s POV

 Screenshot

“…Nikolas…”

 Screenshot-2

“…Sallie…”

Screenshot-3

“Sal!”

Screenshot-4

!!

“AHHHHHH!!”

FOOMP

Screenshot-5

“Ah Niko! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to punch you!”

“It’s fine, I’m fine. Nothing’s broken.” The boy of my literal dreams said as he patted his nose. “I’ll just wait for you over there.” He said, gesturing near the lake.

He wants to talk to me? He’s not mad afterall.

Screenshot-6

I glanced up. Tatiana watched Nikolas walk away.

“You shouldn’t have apologized for punching him. He deserved it.”

“No he didn’t.”

Screenshot-7

Tatiana sighed and rolled her eyes.

“Help me out here. What is it about him that could possibly be attractive?”

Screenshot-8

“He’s cute, funny, a bit of a dork, adventurous, it’s never boring around him, curious to a fault, a bit of a daredevil, loyal, and all over the place. Oh and hot heh.” I felt my cheeks warm up.

“Mean, disrespectful, selfish, cocky, irritating and a bad loser.” Tatiana said. “Don’t waste time on him. I’m pretty sure you could find someone a lot better to love. Hell, any other guy-”

Screenshot-9

“I don’t love him.”

Tatiana said nothing.

I zipped up my tent. “Tell Tom I wish him luck for today’s challenge.” I smiled and hurried up to join Nikolas.

If I take too long, he might decide I’m not the one he wants to tell what he obviously has to tell.

“Dumb people go together I guess.” She muttered under breath.

Screenshot-10

“Sal! Jeesus, something happened last night! I didn’t actually think it would work, but it did. Do you remember the bank robbery? Something happened to me there, I had some weird kind of vision about a statue and I didn’t think much of it before, but I couldn’t sleep yesterday and managed to make myself have a vision, or teleport, or I’m not too sure, but I’m damn sure I have some kind of power. But I’m still not sure how to use it? Or how it works exactly? Or it’s usefulness…” He went on and on, and I had to blink from time to time to stop getting distracted by his eyes. They’re so bright and vibrant it’s hard to look away…And there’s his hair too. I’ve never seen that type of deep red before, and the way the light bounces off it reminds me of a pool of blood.

Screenshot-11

“I’m dropping this on you and you probably don’t understand a thing I’m saying, but I just needed to say this out loud! It feels surreal, and Zac is avoiding me again and explaining the whole thing to baby wings seems like a waste.” He continued on, but I could tell he wasn’t really talking to me. But I don’t mind! It’s good to know he considers me more of a friend than anyone else around here.

The topic drifted to nothing and Nikolas rubbed the back of his neck a little awkwardly. Now what came next, I could tell was meant for me. “I think some apologies are in order. I shouldn’t have been such a sore loser yesterday. You won fair and square. I was just really hoping I’d have that riddle in my hands by now. Glad to see you weren’t pissed about it. Your new friends have all been on my case about it.” Nikolas said with a groan.

Screenshot-12

But I was pissed.

Oh god I was so pissed.

I loved competing in the challenge with you. I finally felt like I could go toe to toe with you on something. My heart was beating wildly when you gave me a friendly taunt, just like any other rival you consider your equal.

I didn’t think I’d win. I was ecstatic and you looked defeated.

And then I got pissed at myself because I’d forgotten what winning the challenge really meant for you in the heat of the moment.

I’m glad that was yesterday.

“But hey, Dawn’ll probably win this challenge. And then…then I can finally get to treasure hunting.” Nikolas added.

Screenshot-13

“I wouldn’t be so sure. Tom’s pretty good.” The reply lingered in my brain before my mouth decided to relay the information. For a moment I chastised myself. Yesterday was a special case. I was doing my best not to be that person.

Nikolas’ eyes widened a little – surprised? Amused? – and the corner of his mouth lifted a little.

“Ha! Guess we’ll just have to see!” He replied. It almost looked like he was as surprised as I was by my comment. “I seriously didn’t know you were good with a bow. Where did you learn?” He asked, his beige eyes actually looking curious.

Wait…he’s asking me a question about me? I can’t tell if this is a good thing or not.

Screenshot-14

I didn’t mean for it too, but my smile dropped. The answer to the question wasn’t the happiest of my memories.

“My dad taught me a little before he left.” I said, looking away. He doesn’t want to hear that. I bit the inside of my cheek. I don’t like the way this day’s started.

Screenshot-15

“What are you guys doing? Challenge starts soon.” Kaan asked, butting into our conversation. He looked from me to Nikolas, who hadn’t said anything to my reply. “Is this guy bothering you Sal?”

Screenshot-16

“What’s it to you anyway baby wings?” Nikolas asked before I could speak.

I stood silently behind Nikolas, barely able to contain the satisfaction of knowing Nikolas found Kaan’s tendency to step into conversations as annoying as I did.

Screenshot-17

“Are you her boyfriend?” Kaan asked.

“No.” Nikolas replied without any hesitation.

Well…it was true unfortunately.

“Exactly.” Kaan said. “Come on Sal, we’ve saved you a seat for breakfast.”

Screenshot-18

“Ah no Kaan, I want to eat with Niko this time.” I said with an apologetic smile. I like making new friends, but these ones keep asking me questions again and again, and a lot of the time – especially after Nikolas does something – the questions are centered on why do you like Niko? Friend or not?

At least with Nikolas, more often than not, he just thinks aloud.

Screenshot-19

Nikolas spun around.

“What? Shit no its fine Sal, go eat with your friends.” He insisted. I wish it wasn’t.

You’re my friend.” I replied with a smile. There was no way at this point, that I wasn’t eating with him now.

Kaan shrugged. “Either way, food’s pretty much ready.”

Screenshot-20

Unfortunately for Nikolas, Tom was indeed the better fisher. Even if it all seems like a game of chance to me.

After lunch it was training time! Nikolas’ team got to try out the Rock climbing station while we were stuck with the surfing one.

 Screenshot-21

Scritch scritch scritch

I gritted my teeth. “Could you stop?” I asked as politely as I could.

“Sorry.” Tatiana replied as she finally stopped scratching the bench. “I can’t stay still when I’m bored.”

We already decided Kaan would be our champion for this challenge. Tom has no balance. I hate water. And Tatiana, and I quote, “doesn’t look good in a swimsuit”.

Screenshot-22

HMPH

I have no idea what she’s talking about. She looks stunning. Smooth looking hair, shiny skin, perfectly applied makeup, a perfect figure. She’s got no complaints to make.

Me? I’m not even going to start on that.

“Not that I’m saying you’re boring. It just sucks that we can’t really participate in the challenge. I’m excited for tomorrow. You know, when it’s going to be our turn to climb!” Tatiana said, gesturing at Nikolas’ team.

Another challenge I probably won’t be able to try out for. I don’t have the arm strength.

Screenshot-23

By the looks of it, Zac has more ease with it than Nikolas does. But I guess it’s not that surprising, Zac is a year older than us.

“You go to the public school right?” Tatiana asked.

“Is it that obvious?”

Screenshot-24

“Oh I didn’t mean it like that. I haven’t seen you around my school, and you’re pretty noticeable.” Tatiana said with a nervous chuckle. I groaned inwardly. I don’t like her. But I disliked the awkward mood that was settling because I was in a bad mood today even more.

“I’ll take that as a compliment.” I said, straightening up and giving her a sweet smile.

She relaxed and smiled back. “It is.”

Screenshot-25

The boys got off their surfing boards.

“Girls, come on it’s your turn!” Kaan exclaimed, shaking his wet hair.

“No, no.” I insisted. “I really don’t like water.”

“Yeah I think we got that when you nearly knocked Kaan out yesterday.” Tatiana laughed.

“Well then you Ana, you’re the most athletic girl I know, come on!” Kaan insisted.

Tatiana shook her head. “Nah I really don’t want to Kaan.”

“Nonsense you look fantastic in a swimsuit!” Kaan continued.

“No-”

Screenshot-26

Kaan suddenly stepped forwards and slung Tatiana over his shoulder.

“Can’t be sitting on the bench all day!”

“Hey!” She snapped. What’s with him and throwing girls into the water?

Kaan ignored her comment and made his way towards the lake. He didn’t get much farther than a few steps.

Tatiana pirouetted over his back, grabbing the hem of his swimsuit as she did. As she landed on her feet, she dragged Kaan over her, to slam onto the ground in front of her.

Screenshot-27

“I said no Kaan.” She said, fists on her hips. Oh my god! Did she break something!?

Tom was laughing his head off. “Haha, don’t worry Sal. Happens all the time with these two.”

Kaan was laughing while pleading mercy, and Tatiana was rolling her eyes with a grin. A smile appeared on my face as well. These guys are ridiculous.

***

Screenshot-28

The bathroom door closed as Dawn left the building to her tent, leaving me alone with my thoughts and the makeup on my face.

I was really enjoying my time here at summer camp, but I still wasn’t completely used to the whole routine. I was used to having the bathroom to myself.

Screenshot-29

I finished washing the rest of the makeup off my face, my hair dangling freely on my shoulders, screaming relief of having finally been let down.

Today was…

Screenshot-30

My eyes drifted up, hesitantly, to look at my barren face.

At the girl hidden behind the colors.

A snobby little bitch

Screenshot-31

I sighed at her. “What were you doing today? You were rude today. You couldn’t keep your tongue to yourself. Remember? We don’t care for that version anymore.”

It’s not our fault.

There’s nothing we could’ve done.

 Screenshot-32

She was just born this ungrateful.

This selfish.

This rude.

 Screenshot-33

I give up.

She’s all yours.

So that kind of went places…

Being a filler chapter I didn’t have much planned apart from the beginning (:P), so I kind of just let Sal take the reins for this one.

Side note:

I saved Salandra to my bin, and this was her little profile pic

 Sal in cas

She’s the only sim to do this. I was so amused.

Hey look at all those sims, two of which aren’t related to this story, and four of which are d e a d

P.T. (personal thoughts) The next two chaps don’t have that much plot content as well so I might end up joining them together. After that things start to pick up again and Arc 2 ends. (at this point y’all never gunna see that riddle :P)

Aaww… Sal is so pretty without all that crap on her face and her hair down! I really hope we get to find out what’s behind that “snobby little bitch” comment, as I can’t imagine her as ever being anything other than the Sal we know and love and ship! Sorry about calling the makeup crap but I don’t really wear the stuff unless its a special occasion and definitely not in the way Sal does lol

Niksal is gonna make such beautiful nooboos (if they ever get it together to do so lol)

SAL!! She just looked so sad 😦
There’s never been a chapter from her POV before, has there? I really want to know more now, I thought there was more too her. And she looks so pretty with her hair down! It’s so cute how much she likes Nikolas, but he’s NEVER asked her a question about her? *scowls*

      Nope it’s the first one!
I was kind of surprised by how cute she was too.
Yeah, I know, but Niko was a little stubborn about befriending her. She kind of just imposed herself on him and built the friendship up herself, and Niko was just even more discouraged when he found Niki had a hand in it, but since the bank robbery he’s gradually starting to accept her friendship. On top of that, the fact that she bested him at something sort of peaked his interest. 😛

  5. Ahh, but of course there’s much more to Salandra than initially meets the eye. I figured it was too good to be true…that anyone could really be that naïve, innocent, and sweet and nothing else….And I mean that in a good way! I think that’s unrealistic—for a person to truly be all of those things and nothing else, so seeing things from Salandra’s point of view, seeing that she does have this inner conflict, thoughts of anger, complex thoughts, makes her feel a lot more real to me. Plus, I think it makes her niceness even more meaningful, because she’s taking a concerted effort to be this way even though her first reaction may not be to act this way. That takes a lot of strength and patience.

What I DON’T like though is that Salandra keeps this side of her hidden from Niko. She tries to paint herself as this perfectly sweet and innocent person to him, but quite honestly that’s exactly why Niko gets bored by her and ends up writing her off as dumb. If she was more true to herself, I think Niko would come to appreciate her much more as a person. Ya know, because she wouldn’t be acting so fake all the time. Like it’s good to try to be nice, but not to the extent where it becomes completely inauthentic and keeps yourself from being true to yourself. And anyway, fakeness is boring. Niko’s an adventurous soul. If she was more true to herself without completely descending into the person she hated that she was, I think she’d have a much better chance of attracting his attention.

Salandra, Salandra….you’ve got to integrate both sides of yourself. Suppressing one side only makes it worse. It’s OKAY to disagree, to not like something, to speak your mind—you can do these things in a manner that’s not rude or disrespectful. Seems like she’s seeing things in only black or white….and that’s just really not going to end up well for her—it really, really isn’t.

Sallie dear is so much more than what others see!

AND WOW for someone to see that so quickly makes me so happy. Niko is bored with Salandra for that exact reason! The only times he really notices her, is where she reacts like she usually would.
But poor child is under the impression people can’t like her if she’s like herself.

      Liked by 1 person

      • Haha, I think maybe I noticed it quickly because I myself was also finding myself a little bored by her. And also just thinking things like, “Is this really all there is to her? This sweet, but clueless little thing?” If so, I could see why Niko was bored because it was rather underwhelming for me too, even if she is cute.

But ahhh I hope she learns that people will actually like her MORE if she’s like herself…me included, but perhaps most importantly a certain adorable redhead 😉 XD
